ICLAS Network for Promotion of Animal Quality in Research
ICLAS Animal Quality Network
Aims:
The ICLAS Animal Quality Network was established in 2006 as a joint
initiative of ICLAS and laboratories involved in the health monitoring
and/or genetics of laboratory animals
The objectives of the Network are to develop programs that fulfil ICLAS aims
of:
·
improving and maintaining the quality of animals used in research,
·
raising
awareness of the importance of high quality laboratory animals among the
scientific community.
The Network currently runs two programs:
Performance Evaluation Program for Diagnostic Laboratories (PEP) -
a scientifically robust program designed to enable diagnostic laboratories
worldwide to monitor the sensitivity and specificity of their health
monitoring assays.
Genetic Quality Monitoring Program (GQMP) –
a program focused on the genetic monitoring of rodents with the following
objectives:
·
to promote education and training to increase awareness of the importance of
genetic quality monitoring,
·
to provide advice and guidance on genetic quality testing,
·
to
establish a self- assessment genetic monitoring program.
